The first modern pointe shoe.

Eliza Gaynor Minden spent eight years developing the first pointe shoe to use patented polymer technology instead of traditional paste-and-fabric construction. The dance world had mixed feelings — some called it a “cheater shoe.” None of that stopped the shoe from reaching ABT, the Royal Ballet, the Paris Opera Ballet, the Bolshoi, and 200+ professional companies.

In 1996, husband John Minden secured the domain dancer.com — making Gaynor Minden the first pointe shoe brand on the internet. Eliza holds four patents on ballet-related inventions and was named “Inventor of the Week” at MIT.
