The brand

Handmade since 1932.

In 1932, cobbler Jacob Bloch emigrated from Eastern Europe to Sydney and noticed a young dancer struggling to stay en pointe. He promised to make her better shoes — and did, by hand. His reputation spread quickly. By the late 1930s he was crafting shoes for visiting Russian ballet companies. Over 90 years later, Bloch is in its third generation of family leadership and every pointe shoe is still handmade using the traditional turnshoe method.

In January 2024, Bloch acquired Russian Pointe — the RP Collection is now part of the Bloch family. The Australian Ballet has relied on Bloch as its official pointe shoe supplier since 2012.
